TCS Grabs Third Army SNAP VSAT Order in October

2017-05-15
TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has received a $9.8 million order from the U.S. Army for laptops and a technology refresh of Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR) Access Point (SNAP) VSAT Satellite System equipment, the company announced Oct. 15.
The order constitutes TCS’ third SIPR/NIPR SNAP deal this month. TCS will provide SwiftLink VSAT systems used to fulfill SNAP program requirements to provide multimedia communications capabilities that convey encrypted voice, video and data.
The U.S. Army Project Manager for the WIN-T commercial satellite terminal program initially will fund the order at $4.5 million, with a potential total of $9.8 million if all options are fully exercised through August. The deal is part of the Army's $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems contract vehicle.
The SNAP program includes options for about 1,500 terminals and supporting equipment to be deployed in various sizes and configurations, along with up to 30 field support positions.
