Irdeto Wins Conditional Access System Order from Taiwanese FSS Provider

Teleport Access Services (TAS), a fixed satellite services provider in Taiwan, awarded a contract to Irdeto to upgrade TAS’s conditional access system, Irdeto announced Dec. 17.
Irdeto will provide TAS with its CAS 3 solution, which aims to provide renewable security by updating smart cards or software-based clients over the air via Irdeto’s FlexiFlash technology. TAS will use the technology to secure its 115 channels uplinked to 4 different satellites.
“In recent years, there has been a rapidly growing piracy problem in Taiwan’s broadcasting industry. Like all direct-broadcast satellite operators, TAS needs an effective way to prevent content piracy. Our primary objective is to avoid customer and revenue loss from piracy. Irdeto’s CAS 3 is helping us achieve that goal,” TAS President Yu-Chun Kuo said in a statement.
