Gilat Satcom Launches iDirect-Powered C-band Service in Nigeria

Gilat Satcom has successfully launched an iDirect Evolution-based C-band service in Nigeria through a new local teleport equipped with an iDirect hub, the companies announced May 3.
Gilat Satcom integrated the iDirect platform with an MPLS-enabled routing network to provide both dedicated and shared service. The new service aims to support the needs of a wide range of customers, including banks, government offices, education facilities, healthcare providers, TV networks, cellular operators and business enterprises.
“With this new local teleport, we have made a heavy investment in Nigeria and the region to provide complete communication solutions for a broad range of users. The launch gives us the ability to mix satellite and fiber applications seamlessly. Domestic and international customers will enjoy the new world-class services with our immediate, local support,” Gilat Satcom CEO Dan Winter said in a statement.
