Comtech Xicom Receives Emerging Market Satellite Amplifier Order

Comtech Xicom Technology received an order worth more than $2.5 million to provide high-power amplifiers to support an unnamed customer in an emerging high-throughput satellite market, the company announced Oct. 7.
Comtech will supply the customer with 500-watt Ka-band amplifiers that feature high linear power and the ability to operate at high ambient temperatures. The amplifiers are part of a product range encompassing power levels from 8 watts to 3 kilowatts, with frequency coverage in sub-bands within the 2 GHz to 45 GHz spectrum.
“With emerging broadband satellite services designed around a new generation of high-throughput satellites, we have seen a surge in demand for the high power Ka-band amplifiers that uplink these broadband interactive services and video broadcasts,” Comtech President and CEO Fred Kornberg said in a statement.
